Kozhikode Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode – A Premier Medical Institution
Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode, established in 1957, is one of Kerala’s top medical institutions. Spread over 270 acres, it is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and serves nearly 40% of Kerala’s population.
The college has a large hospital complex with 3,025 beds, including the Institute of Maternal and Child Health, the Savithri Devi Saboo Memorial Cancer Institute, and a Super Specialty Block. It offers undergraduate (250 seats), postgraduate (28 disciplines), and super-specialty courses (10 departments). Advanced medical facilities include a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, MRI Scan, Tele Cobalt Therapy, and kidney transplantation services.
Key recent additions include the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS), Tertiary Cancer Care Centre, and new departments in Neonatology, Emergency Medicine, and Family Medicine. Development plans include a new ICU, lecture theatre complex, Geriatric Block, and residential facilities.
