മാര്‍ച്ച് 14 നായിരുന്നു പ്രതി വിദേശത്തേക്ക് കടന്നത്. ബന്ധുവീട്ടിലേക്ക് പോകുന്നതിനായി ബസ്സിറങ്ങി റോഡ് മുറിച്ചുകടക്കുന്നതിനിടെ വടകരയ്ക്ക് സമീപം ചോറോട് വെച്ച് കുട്ടിയേയും അമ്മൂമ്മയേയും കാര്‍ ഇടിച്ചത്. അപകടത്തിന് ശേഷം ഇടിച്ച കാര്‍ നിര്‍ത്താതെ പോവുകയായിരുന്നു. ഷെജീലിന്‍റെ കുടുംബവും അപകടം നടക്കുമ്പോള്‍ കാറില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പിന്‍സീറ്റില്‍ ആയിരുന്നു കുട്ടികള്‍. അവര്‍ മുന്‍പിലേക്ക് ഇരിക്കണമെന്ന് വാശി പിടിച്ചു. ആ സംഭാഷണത്തിലേക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധ പോയ സമയത്താണ് അപകടം ഉണ്ടായതെന്നാണ് അന്ന് പൊലീസ് വിശദീകരിച്ചത്. അപകടം നടന്ന് പത്ത് മാസത്തിന് ശേഷമാണ് കാര്‍ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നത്. മനപൂര്‍വ്വമല്ലാത്ത നരഹത്യക്ക് പുറമെ വ്യാജതെളിവ് ഉണ്ടാക്കി ഇന്‍ഷൂറന്‍സ് തുക തട്ടിയെന്ന കേസും ഷെജീലിനെതിരെയുണ്ട്.
Kozhikode: The accused in the case of a 9-year-old girl falling into a coma after being hit by a car in Vadakara has been arrested. Shejeel, a native of Purameri, was arrested at Coimbatore airport. The accused had fled abroad following the accident. The incident that led to the case took place on February 17, 2024. The girl’s grandmother, Baby, who was also injured in the accident, had passed away. On March 14, the accused left the country. The accident occurred near Chorode, Vadakara, when the girl and her grandmother were crossing the road after getting off a bus on their way to a relative’s house. The car hit them and fled without stopping. Shejeel’s family members were also in the car at the time of the accident. The children were in the back seat, and they insisted on sitting in the front. The police had explained that the accident happened when the driver got distracted by this conversation. The car was found ten months after the accident. In addition to charges of involuntary manslaughter, Shejeel also faces a case for fabricating false evidence to fraudulently claim insurance money.
