ഗതാഗത നിയമലംഘനങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കുകയും അവയ്ക്ക് കൃത്യമായി പിഴ ചുമത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ സ്ഥാപിച്ച എഐ ക്യാമറകള്‍ സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് വീണ്ടും സജീവമായി. സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധി കാരണം ഇടയ്ക്ക് പിഴ ഈടാക്കാന്‍ കൃത്യമായി സാധിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല, എന്നാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ വീണ്ടും ക്യാമറകളുടെ പ്രവർത്തനം പുനരാരംഭിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
2023 ജൂണില്‍ ആര്‍ട്ടിഫിഷ്യല്‍ ഇന്റലിജന്‍സ് (എഐ ) ക്യാമറകള്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം ഒന്നരവര്‍ഷം കഴിയുമ്പോള്‍ ആകെ നിയമലംഘനങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണം 98 ലക്ഷം കടന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. പിഴയിനത്തില്‍ ഇതുവരെ 631 കോടി രൂപയാണ് ചുമത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഇതില്‍ 400 കോടി പിടിച്ചെടുത്തുട്ടുണ്ട്. കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ട്രാഫിക് സ്‌പോട്ടുകളിലായി 726 ക്യാമറകളാണ് പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി സ്ഥാപിച്ചത്.
എഐ ക്യാമറകള്‍ പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത നിയമലംഘനങ്ങളില്‍ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ഹെല്‍മെറ്റ് ഇല്ലാതെ വാഹനമോടിക്കുന്നതാണ്. സീറ്റ് ബല്‍റ്റ് ഇല്ലാതെ വാഹനമോടിക്കുക, ഇരുചക്ര വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ മൂന്ന് പേര്‍ ഇരുന്ന് യാത്ര ചെയ്യുക തുടങ്ങിയ നിയമലംഘനങ്ങളും ധാരാളമായി കാണുന്നുണ്ട്.
AI cameras, installed with the aim of detecting traffic violations and accurately issuing fines, have become active again across the state. Due to financial constraints, fine collection had been inconsistent for a while, but now the functioning of the cameras has resumed.
It has been one and a half years since the installation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras in June 2023, and during this period, the total number of traffic violations recorded has crossed 9.8 million.
So far, fines amounting to ₹631 crore have been issued, out of which ₹400 crore has already been collected. As part of the project, a total of 726 cameras have been installed at major traffic spots across Kerala.
The most commonly detected violation by the AI cameras is riding without a helmet. Other frequent violations include driving without wearing a seatbelt and three people riding on a two-wheeler.
