Ponnani: A tragic accident occurred in Ponnani when a car rammed into a stationary lorry, resulting in the death of a young woman and serious injuries to her husband. The deceased has been identified as Siya, a native of Kollam and wife of Nikhil, a resident of Koduvally, Thalassery.
The accident took place early this morning at Panthepala near Naripparambu on the Ponnani–Kuttippuram highway. The car collided with the back of a parked lorry. The victims had to be extricated by cutting open the vehicle.
Both were rushed to the Ponnani Taluk Hospital in a 108 ambulance, but Siya succumbed to her injuries. Nikhil was later shifted to MIMS Hospital, Kottakkal for further treatment. Miraculously, their one-and-a-half-year-old child who was also in the car escaped unharmed.
