Kozhikode: A man has been arrested in connection with the brutal stabbing of a young woman allegedly for ending their friendship. Saleem (56), a resident of Chakkukadavu, Kozhikode, was arrested by the Nallalam police. The victim, Jamseela, a resident of Kallikkunnu, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
The attack took place near the Odumbra bus stop close to her house. Saleem approached the woman and stabbed her, causing her to fall. Hearing Jamseela’s cries for help, local residents rushed to the spot and took her to the hospital.
Jamseela and Saleem were friends earlier, but she distanced herself from him after he was jailed in a drug-related case. This is believed to be the motive behind the attack. Saleem has been produced before the court and remanded to custody.
