വീട്ടുകാരറിയാതെ കുട്ടികളുടെ കാർ യാത്ര; ബ്രേക്കിനു പകരം ചവിട്ടിയത് ആക്സിലറേറ്റർ

Kannur: മട്ടന്നൂരില്‍ പ്രായപൂര്‍ത്തിയാകാത്ത വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികള്‍ സഞ്ചരിച്ച കാര്‍ കനാലിലേക്ക് മറിഞ്ഞു. തെളുപ്പ് കനാലിലേക്കാണ് കാര്‍ നിയന്ത്രണം വിട്ട് മറിഞ്ഞത്. പതിനാല് വയസുള്ള വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയാണ് കാര്‍ ഓടിച്ചത്. വിദ്യാർഥികളെ കണ്ണൂർ എകെജി ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു. പരുക്ക് ഗുരുതരമല്ല.

മട്ടന്നൂർ പണിച്ചിപ്പാറ സ്വദേശികളായ 4 പേരാണ് രക്ഷിതാക്കൾ അറിയാതെ കാറുമായി സവാരിക്കിറങ്ങിയത്. സ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാർഥികളാണ്. പണിച്ചിപ്പാറയിൽ നിന്ന് 5 കിലോമീറ്ററോളം ദൂരമുള്ള വളയാലിൽ പോയി തിരികെ വീണ്ടും പണിച്ചിപ്പാറ ഭാഗത്തു പോകുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് അപകടം. പാലയോട് കനാൽക്കരയിൽ നിന്നു നിയന്ത്രണം വിട്ട കാർ പഴശ്ശി ജലസേചന പദ്ധതിയുടെ കനാലിലേക്കു മറിയുകയായിരുന്നു.

ബ്രേക്ക് ചവിട്ടുന്നതിനു പകരം ആക്സിലറേറ്റർ ചവിട്ടിയതാണ് അപകടത്തിന് കാരണമെന്നാണ് സൂചന. വീണശേഷം കാർ മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങി കനാലിലെ നടപ്പാലത്തിന്റെ തൂണിലിടിച്ച് ഒരു വശം ചെരിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

Kannur: A car driven by underage students lost control and fell into a canal in Mattannur. The accident occurred near the Teluppu Canal when a 14-year-old student was behind the wheel. The injured students were admitted to AKG Hospital, Kannur, but their injuries are not serious.

Four school students from Panichippara set out on a ride without informing their parents. They traveled about 5 kilometers to Valayal and were returning to Panichippara when the accident happened.

Initial reports suggest that the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to veer off the road. The vehicle continued moving after the fall and hit a pillar of a footbridge in the Pazhassi Irrigation Project canal, where it finally came to rest.
