Kozhikode: കീഴപ്പയ്യൂർ പുറക്കാമലയിൽ ക്വാറി വിരുദ്ധ സമരത്തിൻ്റെ പേരിൽ പത്താം ക്ലാസ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായ പതിനഞ്ചുകാരനെ പൊലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്ത് മർദ്ദിച്ചതായി പരാതി.
മേപ്പയ്യൂർ സ്‌കൂളിലെ പത്താം ക്ലാസ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയാണ് മേപ്പയ്യൂർ പൊലീസിന്റെ അതിക്രമത്തിന് ഇരയായത്. പൊലീസ് വാനിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടു പോകും വഴി കുട്ടിയെ പൊലീസ് മർദ്ദിച്ചതായാണ് പരാതി. സ്ത്രീകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് പൊലീസ് കുട്ടിയെ വിട്ടയച്ചത്. ഇന്നലെയാണ് സംഭവമുണ്ടായത്.
നാഭിയിലും ശരീരം മുഴുവനും വേദനയുണ്ടെന്ന് കുട്ടി പറഞ്ഞതായി പിതാവ് വിശദീകരിച്ചു. ഇന്ന് പത്താം ക്ലാസ് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതിയ ശേഷം കുട്ടി Perambra താലൂക്ക് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ ചികിത്സ തേടുമെന്ന് പിതാവ് പറഞ്ഞു. 2012 മുതൽ ക്വാറിക്കെതിരെ സമരം നടക്കുന്ന പ്രദേശമാണ് കീഴപ്പയ്യൂരിലെ പുറക്കാമല. കാലങ്ങളായി പ്രദേശത്ത് പ്രതിഷേധമുണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്. ക്വാറി നടത്തിപ്പിന് സംരക്ഷണം നൽകാൻ പൊലീസിന് ഹൈക്കോടതി നിർദ്ദേശമുണ്ടെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടിയാണ് മേപ്പയ്യൂർ SI അടക്കം പൊലീസ് സ്ഥലത്തെത്തിയതെന്നാണ് വിവരം.
A 15-year-old 10th-grade student from Meppayur School was allegedly detained and beaten by the police in Keezhpayyur Purakkamala over an anti-quarry protest. The student was reportedly assaulted while being taken in a police van and was released only after protests from local residents, including women.
The incident occurred yesterday, and the student’s father stated that his son is experiencing pain in his abdomen and body. After appearing for his 10th-grade exam today, the student is expected to seek medical treatment at Perambra Taluk Hospital.
Keezhpayyur Purakkamala has been witnessing anti-quarry protests since 2012, with ongoing resistance from locals. The police, including the Meppayur SI, arrived at the scene citing a High Court directive to provide protection for quarry operations.
