Engapuzha: The Human Rights Commission has ordered an investigation into a complaint that a young woman from Assam living in Engapuzha was threatened, forced into a nikah (marriage), and subjected to an attempted sexual assault.
The daughter of the Assam native who came to work at a poultry farm in Engapuzha was taken to Manjatti, where the farm owner Abbas, manager Safeer Babu, and two others staged a fake nikah ceremony, after which Abbas attempted to assault her. The Human Rights Commission intervened following media reports about the incident.
