Kalpetta: Excise officer attacked during a drug inspection at Bavali Check Post. The incident occurred when an officer signaled a vehicle to stop, but the driver deliberately ran him over.

The injured officer, Civil Police Excise Officer Jaymon, suffered serious head and jaw injuries, losing three teeth in the attack. The accused, Haider, a native of Anjammile, was arrested by the police. Reports suggest that he had previous drug smuggling cases against him. The inspection was conducted following intelligence reports about increasing drug trafficking through Wayanad from other states.
