Kozhikode: വിദേശനിർമിത സിഗരറ്റുകളു ടെ വൻശേഖരം പിടികൂടി. തിരൂരിലെ രണ്ട് കടമുറികളിൽ നിന്നാണ് 15 കോടി രൂപയുടെ അനധികൃത വിദേശ സിഗരറ്റ് Kozhikode Customs Preventive സംഘം പിടികൂടിയത്. 490 പെട്ടികളിലായാണ് സുക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഇതിൽ 88 ലക്ഷം സിഗരറ്റാണുള്ളത്.
ഒരു Trailer ലോറിയിലും മൂന്ന് ചെറുലോറികളിലുമായി ഇവ മാനാഞ്ചിറയിലെ Customs ഓഫീസിലെത്തിച്ചു. Gold Vimal, Mont, Pine, Essay, Royals, Platinum Benson and Heads, Marlborough, Dunhill, Wynn, Manchester, Camel തുടങ്ങിയ ഇരുപതോളം ബ്രാൻഡുകളാണുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്.
അതിഥി തൊഴിലാളികൾ താമസിക്കുന്ന ലെയ്ൻ മുറികളിൽ രണ്ടെണ്ണത്തിലാണ് സുക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്. Korea ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് അനധികൃതമായി കൊണ്ടു വന്നതാണെന്ന് പ്രാഥമികാന്വേഷണത്തിൽ വ്യക്തമായി.
കസ്റ്റംസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ തിരുരിലെ കട പരിശോധിക്കാനെത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഇവ സൂക്ഷിച്ചയാൾ ഓടിരക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. ഇയാളെ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ച് അന്വേഷണമാരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. Senior Superintendent N. P. Gopinath ന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ സുപ്രണ്ടുമാരായ എം സിലീഷ്, അരുൺ കുമാർ, ഇൻസ്പെക്ടർമാരായ അശ്വന്ത്, അമീൻ, രാജീവ്, ബിപുൽ പണ്ഡിറ്റ്, ഡ്രൈവർ സത്യനാരായണൻ, ഹെഡ് ഹവിൽദാർ മുകേഷ് എന്നിവരടങ്ങിയ കസ്റ്റംസ് സംഘമാണ് സിഗരറ്റ് പിടികൂടിയത്.
Kozhikode: Huge Seizure of Smuggled Foreign Cigarettes. A massive stock of foreign-made cigarettes has been seized in Kozhikode. The Kozhikode Customs Preventive team confiscated illegal foreign cigarettes worth ₹15 crore from two shop rooms in Tirur. The contraband was stored in 490 cartons, containing a total of 8.8 million cigarettes.
The seized cigarettes were transported to the Customs office in Mananchira using a trailer truck and three smaller trucks. The smuggled brands included Gold Vimal, Mont, Pine, Essay, Royals, Platinum Benson & Hedges, Marlboro, Dunhill, Wynn, Manchester, and Camel, among others.
The contraband was hidden in two rented rooms occupied by migrant workers. Preliminary investigations indicate that the cigarettes were illegally smuggled from countries like Korea. During the customs inspection at the shop in Tirur, the individual responsible for storing the cigarettes fled the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation to track him down.
The operation was led by Senior Superintendent N. P. Gopinath, along with Superintendents M. Sileesh and Arun Kumar, Inspectors Ashwanth, Ameen, Rajeev, Bipul Pandit, Driver Satyanarayanan, and Head Havildar Mukesh.
