Koodaranji :പൂവാറൻതോട് കല്ലംപുല്ല് മേഖലയിലാണ് ജനവാസ മേഖലയിൽ കാട്ടാനകൾ കൂട്ടമായെത്തി വ്യാപകമായി നാശനഷ്ടങ്ങൾ വിതച്ചത്. തെങ്ങ്, വാഴ, ജാതി തുടങ്ങിയ വിളകൾ നശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു മാസക്കാലമായി തമ്പുരാൻകൊല്ലി, മണ്ണാർപൊയിൽ, കല്ലംപുല്ല് പ്രദേശത്ത് ആനശല്യം രൂക്ഷമാണെന്ന് പ്രദേശവാസികൾ പറഞ്ഞു. വനം വകുപ്പിനെ വിവരമറിയിച്ചാൽ അവർ സ്ഥലം സന്ദർശിച്ചു പോകുന്നതല്ലാതെ ആനയെ തുരത്താൻ നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നില്ലയെന്നും നാട്ടുകാർക്ക് പരാതിയുണ്ട്.
ആനയിറങ്ങി നാശനഷ്ടമുണ്ടായ സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ പ്രസിഡൻ്റ് ആദർശ് ജോസഫിൻ്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ വാർഡ് മെമ്പർ എൽസമ്മ ജോർജ്, പഞ്ചായത്ത് അധികൃതരും കർഷകസംഘം നേതാക്കളും സന്ദർശിച്ചു. സ്ഥലത്ത് ഫോറസ്റ്റ് RRT സംഘം ക്യാമ്പ് ചെയ്ത് പടക്കം പൊട്ടിച്ച് ആനയെ തുരത്താൻ ശ്രമമാരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
Koodaranji: A herd of wild elephants entered the residential area in Poovaramthodu Kallampull region, causing extensive damage. Crops such as coconut trees, plantains, and nutmeg were destroyed. Residents reported that elephant intrusions have been severe in Thamburankolli, Mannarpoyil, and Kallampull areas for the past month. They also complained that despite informing the forest department, officials only visit the site without taking effective measures to drive away the elephants.
Local representatives, including President Adarsh Joseph, Ward Member Elsamma George, panchayat officials, and farmer leaders, visited the affected areas. The forest department’s RRT team has set up camp in the area and has begun efforts to drive away the elephants by bursting firecrackers.
