Palakkad: യുവാവിനെ അയൽവാസി തലയ്ക്കടിച്ച് കൊന്നു. മണികണ്ഠനാണ് കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്. രാത്രി മദ്യപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിനിടെയുണ്ടായ തർക്കമാണ് കൊലപാതകത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചതെന്നാണ് നിഗമനം. കൊപലാതകം നടത്തിയ അയൽവാസിയെ പൊലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തു. മുണ്ടൂരിലെ കുമ്മംകോട് എന്ന പ്രദേശത്തെ വീട്ടിൽ ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് താമസിച്ചുവരികയായിരുന്നു കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട മണികണ്ഠൻ. ഭാര്യ പിണങ്ങിപ്പോയ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ചില മാനസിക പ്രശ്നങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതായി നാട്ടുകാർ പറയുന്നു. തൊട്ടടുത്ത താമസിക്കുന്ന വിനോദും സഹോദരനും ഇടയ്ക്ക് മണികണ്ഠനെ മദ്യപിക്കാൻ ക്ഷണിക്കാറുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പതിവുപോലെ ഇന്നലെ രാത്രി ഒരുമിച്ചുള്ള മദ്യപാനത്തിനിടെയാണ് തർക്കമുണ്ടായതെന്ന് നാട്ടുകാർ പറയുന്നു.
രാവിലെ മണികണ്ഠൻ മരിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നത് ഇതുവഴിപോകുമ്പോൾ ഒരു അയൽവാസി കാണുകയായിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് പൊലീസിനെ വിവരമറിയിച്ചു. ഇരുവരും സ്ഥിരമായി മദ്യപിച്ച് ബഹളമുണ്ടാക്കാറുണ്ടെന്ന് നാട്ടുകാർ പറയുന്നു. നാട്ടുകാർ ചേർന്നാണ് പ്രതിയായ വിനോദിനെ പിടികൂടി പൊലീസിനെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചത്. വിനോദിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ ഒളിവിലാണ്. വിനോദിന്റെ അമ്മയെയും പൊലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. സംഭവത്തിൽ പൊലീസ് വിശദമായ അന്വേഷണം തുടങ്ങി.
Palakkad: A young man, Manikandan, was killed by his neighbor following a dispute while drinking alcohol at night. Police suspect that the argument led to the murder. The accused neighbor has been taken into custody.
Manikandan, who lived alone in Kummamkode, Mundur, reportedly had mental health issues after his wife left him. His neighbors, Vinod and his brother, occasionally invited him for drinks. As usual, they were drinking together last night when the argument broke out.
In the morning, a passerby discovered Manikandan’s body and alerted the police. Locals stated that the two often drank together and caused disturbances. The villagers apprehended Vinod and handed him over to the police, while his brother is absconding. Vinod’s mother has also been taken into custody. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
