In Thamarassery, three houses were broken into during the night in two separate locations. At Kallumakkal Thomas’s house in Vrindavan Estate, the burglars gained entry by breaking the rear grill and ransacked the place, damaging all the locks and cupboards. They stole ₹8,000 and scattered chili powder in the courtyard and kitchen. The family had been away visiting relatives and discovered the theft upon returning the next morning.
Another nearby house belonging to Thrasiya Mathew, an elderly woman, was also targeted. The intruders broke open the back door and rummaged through cupboards and bags, but it appears nothing valuable was taken.
The third break-in occurred at the house of Ahmed Kutty on Church Road. The kitchen door and rear grill were broken, and though the house was locked with the family abroad, the break-in was discovered early morning by his son who arrived from Bangalore. All interior doors had been opened, but nothing was reported missing. Police found tools used in the break-ins left behind and have begun an investigation.
