Wayanad: നിരവിൽപുഴ മട്ടിലയം സ്‌കൂളിന് പുറകു വശം സ്വകാര്യ വ്യക്തിയുടെ തോട്ടത്തിൽ മരുന്ന് തളിക്കുന്നതിനിടെ കാട്ടുപോത്തിൻ്റെ മുന്നിൽപ്പെട്ട തൊഴിലാളിക്ക് ഓടി രക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നതിനിടെ പരിക്കേറ്റു. മരാടി ഉന്നതിയിലെ ചാമൻ (55) നാണ് പരിക്കേറ്റത്. കണ്ണിനും, നെഞ്ചിനും പരിക്കേറ്റ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ മാനന്തവാടി മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു.
കാട്ടിയെ കണ്ട് ഭയന്നോടുന്നതിനിടയിലാണ് സംഭവമെന്നും, മറ്റൊന്നും തനിക്കോർമ്മയില്ലെന്നുമാണ് ചാമൻ പറഞ്ഞതെന്ന് വനപാലകർ പറഞ്ഞു. രണ്ടാഴ്‌ചയോളമായി ഈ കാട്ടു പോത്ത് പ്രദേശത്ത് ഭീഷണിയുയർത്തുന്നതായി പ്രദേശവാസികൾ പറയുന്നു. തൊട്ടടുത്ത് കുഞ്ഞോം യുപി സ്‌കൂളും, നിരന്തരം വാഹനങ്ങൾ കടന്നു പോ കുന്ന കുറ്റ്യാടി മാനന്തവാടി റോഡും ഉണ്ട്. കുട്ടികൾക്കും യാത്രക്കാർക്കും ഭീഷണിയാകുന്ന കാട്ടുപോത്തിന്റെ അക്രമ ഭീഷണിയിൽ നിന്നും ശാശ്വത സംരക്ഷണം നൽകണമെന്നാണ് പ്രദേശവാസികളുടെ ആവശ്യം. സംഭവത്തെ തുടർന്ന് വനം വകുപ്പ് ആർ ആർ ടി സംഘമടക്കം സ്ഥലത്തെത്തി കാട്ടിയെ തുരത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമമാരംഭിച്ചു.
Wayanad: A worker was injured after encountering a wild bison while spraying pesticides in a private plantation behind Mattilayam School in Niravilpuzha. The injured person is Chaman (55) from Maradi Unnathi. He sustained injuries to his eye and chest while trying to flee and has been admitted to Mananthavady Medical College.
According to forest officials, Chaman said he was frightened by the sudden appearance of the bison and fled, but doesn’t remember much else. Locals report that the wild bison has been a threat in the area for the past two weeks. The nearby Kunhom UP School and the busy Kuttiady-Mananthavady road increase the risk for children and travelers.
Residents are demanding permanent protection from the wild bison, which poses an ongoing threat. Following the incident, the Forest Department and Rapid Response Team (RRT) arrived on the scene and began efforts to drive the animal away.
