Tamarassery: കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ പോലീസ് താമരശ്ശേരിയുടെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നടത്തിയ വാഹന പരിശോധനയിൽ ലൈസൻ ഇല്ലാതെ വാഹനമോടിച്ച പ്രായപൂർത്തിയാവാത്ത നിരവധി വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ പിടികൂടി. ഹെൽമറ്റു പോലും ധരിക്കാതെ മൂന്നു പേരെ വെച്ചുള്ള യാത്രയിലാണ് പലരും പിടിയിലായത്.
പിടിയിലായ കുട്ടി ഡ്രൈവർമാരുടെ രക്ഷിതാക്കൾക്ക് 25,000 മുതൽ 35,000 വരെയാണ് പിഴ. പിഴ കോടതിയിലാണ് അടയ്ക്കേണ്ടത്. വാഹനത്തിന്റെ RC ഒരുവർഷത്തേക്ക് റദ്ദാക്കും. വാഹനമോടിച്ച കുട്ടിയ്ക്ക് 25 വയസ് വരെ ലൈസൻസ് ലഭിക്കില്ല. വാഹനം അപകടത്തിൽപ്പെട്ടാൽ ഇൻഷ്വറൻസ് തുക അനുവദിക്കില്ല. ഇരയ്ക്ക് വലിയ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം സ്വന്തമായി നൽകേണ്ടി വരും. പ്രവാസി കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ വാഹനം രക്ഷിതാക്കളുടേയോ ബന്ധുക്കളുടേയോ പേരിലാണെങ്കിലും മിക്കപ്പോഴും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് കുട്ടിഡ്രൈവർമാരാവും.
റോഡിൽ മോട്ടോർ വാഹന വകുപ്പിന്റെയോ പൊലീസിന്റെയോ പരിശോധന കണ്ടാൽ ബൈക്കിന്റെ വിവരങ്ങൾ ലഭിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ പിറകിലിരിക്കുന്നയാൾ നമ്പർ പ്ലേറ്റ് കാല് കൊണ്ട് മറച്ചുപിടിക്കുന്ന പ്രവണതയുണ്ട്. ഇത്തരം സാഹസങ്ങൾ ജീവൻ അപകടത്തിലാക്കുമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ മുന്നറിയിപ്പേകുന്നു. ക്യാമറകളും മറ്റും പരിശോധിച്ച് ഇത്തരം കുട്ടിഡ്രൈവർമാരെ പിടികൂടാറാണ് പതിവ്. ബൈക്കിൽ അൾട്രേഷൻ നടത്തുന്നതിലും മുന്നിൽ കുട്ടി ഡ്രൈവർമാരാണ്. ബൈക്കിലെ രണ്ട് മിററുകളും അഴിച്ചു മാറ്റിയും വലിയ ശബ്ദമുള്ള സൈലൻസർ ഘടിപ്പിച്ചും അടക്കം നിരത്തിൽ ചീറിപ്പായുന്നവരുണ്ട്.
In recent days, police conducted vehicle inspections across various parts of Tamarassery and apprehended numerous underage students driving without a license. Many of them were caught riding with three passengers, without even wearing helmets.
The parents of these underage drivers face fines ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹35,000, which must be paid in court. Additionally, the vehicle’s RC will be canceled for one year, and the child will be ineligible for a driving license until the age of 25. If the vehicle is involved in an accident, no insurance claim will be granted, and the driver’s family will have to bear the compensation expenses.
In many expatriate families, vehicles are registered under the names of parents or relatives, but they are often used by underage drivers. Some youngsters, upon spotting road inspections by the police or motor vehicle department, attempt to conceal the number plate by covering it with their feet. Authorities warn that such stunts endanger lives.
Traffic cameras and surveillance methods are being used to identify and catch underage drivers. Many of them also engage in illegal vehicle modifications, such as removing both mirrors and installing loud silencers, recklessly speeding on roads. Authorities continue to take strict actions against such violations.
