An astonishing incident unfolded recently off the coast of Chile in the Strait of Magellan. A 24-year-old kayaker, Adrian Simancas, was knocked off his vessel by a humpback whale, which then swallowed him. However, after being forcefully thrown into the whale’s mouth, Simancas miraculously managed to escape.
The dramatic event took place around 3 p.m. on Saturday near Punta Arenas, Chile, while Adrian and his father, Dell Simancas, were kayaking separately. Following a powerful blow from the whale, he was pulled into its mouth. “I saw something between blue and white pass close to my face. I had no idea what was happening or where I was. I was swallowed,” Adrian recounted.
Video footage taken by his father shows Adrian paddling on the surface before the whale’s mouth emerges from the water, swallowing him and then releasing him.
