Kuttiadi: തിങ്കളാഴ്‌ച വൈകിട്ട് കക്കട്ടിൽ അങ്ങാടിയിൽ വയോധികനെ വെട്ടി പരിക്കേൽപിച്ച കേസിൽ പ്രതി പിടിയിൽ. മധുകുന്ന് പുന്നൂപറമ്പത്ത് ഗംഗാധരനെ ആക്രമിച്ച കേസിൽ കക്കട്ടിൽ സ്വദേശി ലിനിഷിനെയാണ് CI എ.പി. കൈലാസനാഥ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്.
പരിസരത്തെ കടകളിൽ നിന്ന് ലഭിച്ച CCTV ദൃശ്യങ്ങളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് പ്രതി പിടിയിലായത്. കടലാസിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ വടിവാൾ മഴക്കോട്ടിനുള്ളിൽ ഒളിപ്പിച്ച പ്രതി ഇടവഴിയിൽ കയറി മഴക്കോട്ട് ധരിക്കുന്നത് ദൃശ്യങ്ങളിൽ കാണാം. തുടർന്ന് മുഖം മാസ്ക്ക് കൊണ്ട് മറച്ച് കടലാസിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ കൊടുവാളുമായി വന്നാണ് ആളുകൾ നോക്കിനിൽക്കെ പ്രതി ആക്രമിക്കുന്നത്. സംഭവ ശേഷം വയനാട്ടിലേക്ക് രക്ഷപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. അവിടെ നിന്നാണ് പിടിയിലാവുന്നത്. ആക്രമിക്കാനുള്ള കാരണം എന്തെന്ന് പൊലീസ് അന്വേഷിച്ച് വരികയാണ്.
ഗംഗാധരന്റെ ബന്ധുവിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ CPM ബ്രാഞ്ച് കമ്മിറ്റി യോഗം നടത്തിയതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് നേരത്തെ അന്ന് തർക്കങ്ങളും അടിപിടിയുമാണ് അക്രമത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചതെന്നാണ് പൊലീസിന്റെ നിഗമനം. യോഗം നടത്തുന്നത് ഗംഗാധരനും BJP പ്രവർത്തകനായ മകൻ ലകേഷും എതിർത്തിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് വാക്കേറ്റവും അടിപിടിയും ഉണ്ടായതായും മകനെതിരെ സി.പി.എമ്മുകാരുടെ പരാതി പ്രകാരം കേസെടുത്തിരുന്നതായും പൊലീസ്.
Kuttiadi: On Monday evening, an accused was arrested in connection with the attack on an elderly man at Kakkattil Market. The police arrested Linish, a resident of Kakkattil, for attacking Madhukunnum Punnuparambath Gangadharan. The arrest was carried out by CI A.P. Kailasanath.
The suspect was identified using CCTV footage from nearby shops. The footage showed the accused hiding a machete wrapped in paper inside his raincoat, walking into a narrow alley, wearing the raincoat, and later covering his face with a mask before attacking the elderly man in front of bystanders. After the incident, the accused fled to Wayanad, where he was later apprehended.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack. However, initial findings suggest that the incident may have been linked to a dispute over a CPM branch committee meeting held at the home of Gangadharan’s relative. Both Gangadharan and his son Lakesh, a BJP worker, had opposed the meeting. This led to verbal and physical altercations, which police believe escalated into the violent attack. There had also been prior complaints against Lakesh by CPM members, according to the police.
