Kuttiady: കൈക്കൂലി കേസിൽ പഞ്ചായത്ത് സെക്രട്ടറിയെ Kozhikode Vigilance Special Judge Shibu Thomas നാല് വർഷം കഠിനതടവിനും ഒരു ലക്ഷം രൂപ പിഴയടക്കാനും ശിക്ഷിച്ചു. Kuttiady വട്ടോളി സൗപർണികയിൽ പി. ടി. പത്മരാജനെയാണ് ശിക്ഷിച്ചത്. പേരാമ്പ്ര പഞ്ചായത്ത് സെക്രട്ടറിയായിരിക്കെ ചപ്പാത്തി നിർമാണ യൂനിറ്റിന് കച്ചവട ലൈസൻസ് നൽകാനായി 10,000 രൂപ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുകയും പിന്നീട് അഭ്യർഥനയനുസരിച്ച് 5,000 രൂപയാക്കി ഉറപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തെന്നാണ് കേസ്.
2014 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 27ന് രാവിലെ ഓഫിസിൽ പണം കൈമാറവെ വിജിലൻസ് കൈയോടെ പിടികൂടി. പിഴയടച്ചില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഒരുവർഷം കഠിനതടവ് അനുഭവിക്കണം. വിവിധ വകുപ്പുകളിൽ മൊത്തം ഏഴ് വർഷം തടവ് വിധിച്ചെങ്കിലും ഒന്നിച്ച് നാല് വർഷം അനുഭവിച്ചാൽ മതി. പ്രോസിക്യൂഷനുവേണ്ടി അഡ്വ. എൻ. ലിജീഷ് ഹാജരായി. മുൻ Vigilance DySP കെ. അഷ്റഫാണ് കേസ് അന്വേഷിച്ചത്.
Kuttiady: In a bribery case, Kozhikode Vigilance Special Judge Shibu Thomas sentenced Panchayat Secretary to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh. The convicted individual is P.T. Padmarajan, a resident of Vattoli, Sauparnika.
The case states that while serving as the Perambra Panchayat Secretary, he demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 to issue a trade license for a chapati-making unit. Later, upon negotiation, he reduced the amount to ₹5,000.
On August 27, 2014, he was caught red-handed by the Vigilance department while accepting the bribe in his office. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional one-year imprisonment. Although he was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison under different charges, serving four years concurrently will be sufficient. Advocate N. Lijesh appeared for the prosecution, and the case was investigated by former Vigilance DySP K. Ashraf.
